It’s worth visiting the National Museum – it offers a good introduction to Kenya, and the cool, peaceful interiors will give relief from the hot, busy streets outside. As you walk quietly around, you’ll see displays of fossils, tribal artefacts, and a bird gallery with more than 900 stuffed and mounted specimens.

  • Day 1

    Arrive Nairobi
    Relaxation and overnight. Eka Hotel.

    On your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel for relaxation and overnight. Eka Hotel. Briefing about your itinerary for the following day.

  • Day 2

    Meru National Park
    Ikweta Safari Camp

    Pick up from your hotel and head over to Meru, which is 6 hours driving time The morning drive takes you across the central Highland and through local farmalands – if time allows enjoy impromptu stops for close viewing 0f pineapple farmlands, coffee plantations as well as rice farms on your way. The drive crosses the mighty Tana River as it snakes its way from the Aberdares to the Indian Ocean.

    Drive over the picturesque Nyabene hills with its winding roads and wonderful scenery before descending toward Maua town and to the lovely Ikweta Safari Camp. Enjoy lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. Spend the early evening on “shamba”-farm walk meeting the locals as they go around completing their daily chores.     Full Day Meru National Park
    Ikweta Safari Camp

    Wake up to a sumptuous before heading out for a full day game drive with picnic Lunch out in the park. Meru National Park features luxuriant vegetation and over 12 rivers Crisscrossing the expanse of the park. This park is rarely visited and utterly un-spoilt with its Wonderful and rugged terrain adding to the intrinsic beauty of park. Return to the camp Early evening and later attend to a lecture/briefing from the Born Free Foundation on their efforts to protect the lion population. Ikweta Safari Camp, Full Board

    Meru is the land of the lion. Not only because of Elsa, but it is where George went on to return three lions from the film “Born Free”, to a life of freedom. Project Lion Rover is part of a new initiative in which Born Free will work with the Kenya Wildlife Service, Land Rover, the local Meru community and others, to do all we can to ensure that lions are free to live and thrive the Meru Conservation Area (MCA) for generations to com.

  • Day 4

    Meru National Park
    Ikweta Safari Camp

    Wake up to an early morning game drive before returning back to camp for breakfast. Later during the morning hours, embark on “ranger” activity with the resident rangers and Born Free in the park. The main activity will be looking out for lion snares and assistance in the proactive antisnare campaign, supporting the resident wildlife scientist in lion population analysis as well as their prey. Lunch and later spend the rest of the day at your camp. Dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp Full Board

  • Day 5

    Samburu National Reserve
    Samburu Sopa Lodge, Full Board.

    Enjoy your early morning breakfast and depart for the drive further Northwards to Samburu Country. Your journey takes a counter clockwise direction on the base of Mount Kenya. Samburu is home to the colorful Arrive Samburu people who greatly resemble their more famous Maasai Cousins albeit more Colorful Arrive Samburu reserve in good time for lunch followed by an afternoon of leisure before embarking on the evening game drive in search of the big five as well as other animals endemic to the area.   • Day 6

    Samburu National Reserve

    Spend the day in the Reserve where game viewing and visibility is excellent. Bird life is superb with over 380-recorded species and game which includes reticulated giraffes, Gravy’s zebras, elephants, oryx, Somali ostrich, hippos, crocodiles, gerenuk, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas. The long-necked gerenuk is a graceful antelope which spend much of its time in a bi-pedal stance seeking succulence among the withered scrub which dots this harsh terrain. Relief comes from the Ewaso Nyiro River which rises some hundreds of kilometers to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and which vanishes beyond Samburu in the recess of the lorian swamp.   • Day 7

    Samburu – Solio Game Reserve
    The Ark Full Board

    Wake up to an early breakfast before departing approx. 0700hrs for a drive that take you southwards towards central highlands with great views of fertile small scale farmlands. Upon arrival check into your await lunch. On a good day, you might have a great view of Mt. Kenya right from the lodge. After lunch drive out to the nearby solio ranch for game viewing.     The ‘Solio Ranch’ is one of the finest wildlife parks in Africa, which hasn’t figured on the tourist map for generations. The park is a fenced, privately –owned wildlife conservancy geared towards rhino conservation. The solio Game Reserve was founded in 1970 when the owner of the solio cattle ranch fenced off a large section of land and dedicated it to conservation. The park plays a major party in the protection and breeding of black rhinos in Kenya. Breeding has been so successful that rhino from Solio Reserve is inhabited by different other wildlife, such as buffalo, zebra, giraffe, Oryx, antelope, Thompson’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck and warthog. The park also offers some of the best leopard viewing the country, and lion and cheetah can also be found. Unforgettable game drives are guaranteed.

  • Day 8

    Transfer to Nairobi / Departure

    After breakfast, drive southwards to Nairobi. Time allowing participates in optional activities e.g. City tour, national museum, Karen Blixen etc. at extra cost. All meals are on own cost before transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Booking Terms & Conditions

Basic guidelines to aid you as you plan to make your booking to travel to Africa on your Safari Expedition. This is not an exhaustive list, our Tour consultants are always standby to give you all the necessary guidance accordingly.

Booking Procedure

All applications for provisional or confirmed reservations are to be made by the Client by way of letter, facsimile or e-mail addressed to Zagas Explorer.
No reservation will be deemed made unless acknowledged and accepted in writing by Zagas Explorer. Provisional reservations will only be held for 14 days, after which the booking will be released. Please ensure the following information is included:

      » Date and time of arrival
      » Number of people and room requirement
      » Full names of client, and ages of children in the group (if applicable)
      » Any special requirements

Cancellation Policy

Reservations cancelled are charged as below:

      » Between 60 and 31 days prior to arrival a 25% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Between 30 and 15 days prior to arrival a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Between 14 and 0 days prior to arrival a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
      » Cancellation fees are calculated on the rate per person and on the total value of the Reservation made.

Rates

All amounts are denominated in US Dollars and payments must be made in the nominated currency. In the case of any future increases in fuel, currency fluctuations, component costs or government taxes, Zagas Explorer reserves the right to renegotiate the rates. Conservancy fees are mandatory and will be included in the invoice.

Deposit Requirements

A refundable deposit of 30% is to be received by Zagas Explorer within 7 working days from date of confirmation. The final balance of 70% of the total value of the reservation(s) will be payable at least 30 days prior to the guests arrival.

Refunds

Should any client arrive late or request an early departure, no refund will be granted. Whilst Zagas Explorer will ensure that all anticipated accommodation will be available as planned, there shall be no claim of any nature against Zagas Explorer for a refund, either in part or whole, if any accommodation and or excursion is unavailable and a reasonable alternative was found – or if guests were unable to make use of the service for any reason.

Insurance

All guests should take out comprehensive insurance cover when paying their confirmation deposit, to cover them for cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, personal baggage, emergency evacuation back home and money.

Disclaimer

This agreement is made subject to and shall be governed and construed according to the laws of Tanzania. Neither Zagas Explorer, nor any person acting for, through or on behalf of the company shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever and without restricting the generality of the foregoing shall particularly not be responsible for loss or damage arising from any errors or omission contained in the brochure or other literature, late or non-confirmation or acceptance of bookings, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness, injury or death whether occasioned by negligence or not. In addition, the company shall have the right at any time at its discretion to cancel any tour or the remainder thereof or make any alteration in route, accommodation, price or other detail and in the event of any tour being rendered impossible, illegal, or inadvisable by the weather, avalanches, strike, war, government or interference or any other causes whatsoever. The extra expense incurred as a result thereof shall be the responsibility of the passenger.

The company may, at its discretion and without liability or cost to itself, at any time cancel or terminate the passenger's booking and in particular without limiting the generality of the foregoing, it shall be entitled to do so in the event of the illness or the illegal or incompatible behavior of the passenger, who shall in such circumstances not be entitled to any refund.

Please be aware that these safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African Wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Neither the company, nor its employees, nor its agents can be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari.
