Top Ten "Must Have" items to take on safari

Before your visit to your destination, spend a little time learning about the culture and customs of that country, watch for any current news about the place, and read up on the local history as well as vital ecosystems. Learn at least the basics of the local language. A simple “hello”, “please” or “thank you” goes a long way. Don't just observe but learn as you travel

  1. A Simple Code of Conduct for Travelers

In a world as vast and varied as ours, how does one define “Code of Conduct”.  Simply put, when you are visiting a part of the world whose ‘way of life’ you’re not familiar with, follow a few simple guidelines

  2. Respect

Wear clothing that is accepted by the local culture. In conservative societies, what is acceptable in a western country may be insulting to most in a conservative society.  People are also sensitive to being photographed so always ask first. Observe local customs and don’t judge them.  You are a guest in that country. Concept of time, personal space, communication etc. may be completely different from what you may be used to.  Show respect and be a better loved traveler.

  3. Displays of wealth

Avoid display of wealth.  What may seem normal to you may be considered extravagant to another culture.  Leave jewelry and other unnecessary valuables at home as they only create barriers and inhibit genuine interactions.

  4. Flexibility

To avoid disappointment in a change of plan, approach your adventure with an open mind.  An opportunity for a more unique culture experience might present itself. Adapt yourself to the different situations.  After all, aren’t you traveling to experience something completely different and new from your everyday surroundings?

  5. The Environment

RT-Framework offers a rock solid theme back-end with tons of useful tools and options.

  6. Support Local Economies

Your visit can directly benefit the local economy.  How you might ask. Use local guides, markets, shops etc. where possible. This helps create a buffer zone for the environment surrounding protected natural areas by giving locals an economic alternative to potentially destructive practices. Community based ecotourism spreads wealth and workload.
